Launching a SaaS Product

CruitCast came to us in January 2016 with the goal of launching a SaaS product.

They know how to hustle. We know how to design and develop. Their SaaS (Software as a Service) product is alive and well, getting better every day.

THE PROBLEM: IMPROVE THE RECRUITING EXPERIENCE FOR LACROSSE COACHES & PLAYERS

Coaches can’t be everywhere at once. Game footage is invaluable. Players want their best foot forward.

Prior to CruitCast, the recruiting model for college lacrosse involved coaching staff traveling all over the country to scout out players, with no combined way of seeing multiple players at once.

It takes a lot of time, it costs a lot of money, and it doesn’t give the coaches much insight on who the best players really are – and if they actually want to go to the school or not.

THE SOLUTION: A RICH EXPERIENCE THAT KEEPS GETTING BETTER

Launching a SaaS Product is an ongoing endeavor.

CruitCast began design in March 2016 and launched their beta in May. Their application features 5 user levels: 2 paid, 1 free and 2 admin.

One of the challenges of a 100% new experience, is there isn’t a roadmap for how to build the features that matter the most to users, because the users don’t really know what to ask for yet.

Once their beta was live, they gained insight almost daily about what coaches wanted, what players wanted and how they could add value to their users.

Development on the core functionality of the app, including design tweaks and adjustments continued throughout the summer and wrapped up just before October.

Along the way they found more features to add, and we’ve continued working on the app in the lacrosse off-season. The current version of CruitCast is significantly more engaging and useful for their core users – a key factor in getting them to come back for more!
